Nearly seventy athletes are on the Polish national team for the upcoming World Championships in Budapest. The tournament will begin on Saturday 19 August and last until 27 August.
The numerous team of the red-and-white team includes the medallists of the previous championships – walker Katarzyna Zdziebło, as well as hammer throwers Wojciech Nowicki and Paweł Fajdek, who is aiming to defend his title.
The Polish national team is also strengthened by Natalia Kaczmarek, who has been very good this season and is a three-time winner of the 400-metre run at the Diamond League. Poland will also field four relay teams in the Hungarian capital – all except the men’s 4 x 400 metres.
The world championships – the 19th edition – will be held in Budapest from 19-27 August. The global championships are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year. Its first edition was held in 1983 in Helsinki. Budapest is making its debut as host of the championships, but has already hosted (in 2004) the World Indoor Championships. Hungary hosted the European Championships in 1966 and 1998.
